Strengthening Your Case Through Medical Education (7/17/2026)

Presented by: Milwaukee County ADA Mallory Davis

Medical testimony can mean the difference between a child standing up to their maltreater alone and having corroborating evidence to support or bolster the disclosure.  Bringing a medical professional to testify on a case of child maltreatment helps to educate a jury and not only corroborate a disclosure but also inform the jury regarding the dangers of maltreatment.  Medical testimony can be an effective way to explain and substantiate anything from child physical abuse to exposure to narcotics in childhood to mental harm to the impacts of neglect on children both immediately and long term.  Getting your local medical providers involved in child maltreatment prosecution is an important part of building a solid case- even if you don’t have access to local CACs.
