Susan Kanack, BSN, RN, SANE-P, SANE-A

Susan received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Carroll University and is a board-certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) in Adult, Adolescents and Pediatrics.   Susan is the statewide coordinator for forensic nursing at the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and provides training and technical assistance to hospitals, nurses, law enforcement and prosecutors across the state on medical forensic topics and best practice.  She also continues to see patients in the Milwaukee area at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin in their Forensic Nursing Program.   Prior to that, Susan worked at Advocate Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee as a forensic nurse in the busiest sexual assault treatment center in the state, seeing over 300 patients of all ages for sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, and strangulation.  Susan has been a nurse since 1998 and has worked with marginalized and abused women for the majority of her career.  She is a member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses and the Academy of Forensic Nursing.
